Who asked us to do what, and why?

Meta (formerly Facebook) asked us to work on a series of editorial visuals for their Oculus developer audience. They had nothing to show aside from stock assets and photos from very consumer-based marketing photoshoots. To foster real community engagement, they wanted to communicate visually to developers with nuance, and in a language they would easily understand.

What did we do?

They didn’t have anything in terms of style for this group, so we initially spent time working through various approaches. Photography, iconography, 3D, monoline illustration, and several mixed methods.

We arrived at an approach that would fit nicely into the Oculus brand's look and feel and could be scaled for efficiency down the line. Using Adobe Illustrator, we took each technical concept and built an editorial representation using 3D tools, perspective, gradients, and bespoke illustrative forms.

Not trying to brag here, buuuuut we will. They were so pleased with the work; they ended up refreshing the Oculus website to follow suit with the very assets and approach we delivered.
